Back when there was no deaths outside Asia, I was reading a pamphlet at work for medical professionals about drugs of abuse and it talked about how people can get fentanyl from China and often travel there for it.
Then I thought maybe the travel restrictions will decrease fentanyl availability. Then I thought, no, that’s naive. I knew then that the virus was unlikely to stay contained to Asia.
Fast forward to the spikes of cases and deaths in Iran and Italy, and the presence of cases in the chain of countries between China and Iran, when the virus has tended not to strike third world countries otherwise.
